The market gapped down at the open today. Jobless claims and trade deficit data did not seem encouraging. But, after the spike down, buyers steadily came in. Both SPX and Nasdaq basically tested the July lows. Most sectors reversed their morning losses and ended the day with solid gains. Some of the biggest gainers, “point-wise”, were: GOOG up $19.59; BIDU up $18.42; CME up $9.81; MA up $12.28. This morning, JOYG announced the adding of $1 billion to its stock repurchase program, which now becomes $2 billion! JOYG shares jumped +11.52% today (we initiated a new trade on this). BUCY also tagged along for the ride, up +6.91%!
Fertilizers were very strong today. After a negative open, they ended mostly up: POT +5.4%; MOS +3.33%; CF +6.06%; MON +5.19%. We picked up some nice trades on POT, just when it turned positive:

These options closed at $10.6. After the market, POT announced a new quarterly dividend and added to its stock repurchase program. POT shares jumped another $5, or more than +3% in AH trading. It looks like these fertilizers could go much higher tomorrow!
I also made a nice trade on FSLR while it was still down this morning, as it fell below $200. When it came back up above $200, I initiated a trade:
This was good for a quick +38.8% gain. These options closed at $10.7 today.
